Sun Valley Ski Resort’s roots are in the Old World ski resorts. Since its opening in1936, Sun Valley Idaho has been serving up that magical charm to millions of guests. It may very well be inexplicable, that certain difference, but it has something to do with seeing to it that the resort provides an all-encompassing experience, rather than just a place to sleep while you visit. The atmosphere has a lot to do with it, of course, but it’s also found in the little things that are available, such as sleigh rides, and how the horses are dressed out in Old-World style, rather than just having some pragmatic harness over them. It’s found in buildings of magnitude, and a level of service that assures you that you’re more than just welcome, you’re a cherished guest. It’s in seeing to it that all the details and moments of your stay are rich, and leave warm, lasting memories. Continue reading →

Life’s richest memories are made in the extraordinary. Just being at Keystone is already that, but now imagine taking it a step further — further back in time. You’re picked up by a horse-drawn wagon. A team of two-thousand pound draft horses pull you and the rest of the party through the snow and mountains, to a warm, welcoming cabin, where you’re served a meal real cowboys only dreamed about. While you dine, some of the finest guitar pickers around will entertain you with fantastic live musicianship. You’ll enjoy freshly prepared steaks (if you like, vegetarian options are available) and real mashed potatoes. There are country biscuits, grilled chicken or salmon, and ice cream and apple pie for dessert. Would you care for a cup of coffee or another glass of wine after your meal? Oh, and kids under 12 eat free — one per paid adult ticket! Then it’s back out to the sleigh or wagon for a beautiful night ride back. Perhaps the night sky will be clear and you’ll spy a shooting star, or take in a waxing or waning moon! It just doesn’t get much more surreal than that! Continue reading →
